I'm currently reading Captivating by Stasi Eldredge. It is a good read. I find myself laughing at some of her illustrations, as I sometimes connect withthe women in her book. Here are some of what the author says in the book
"Convinced that God was holding out on her. Convinced that in order to have the best possible life, she (Eve in eating the forbidden fruit) must take matters into her own hands. And so she did. She is the first to fall. In disobeying God, she also violated her very essence.
"To possess true beauty, we must be willing to suffer. Women who are stunningly beautiful are women who have had their hearts enlarged by suffering. By saying "yes" when the world says "no". They have come to know that when everyone and everything has left them, God is there."
A part of me actually thinks that what the author said of the nature of women nowadays is true. Women tend to be controlling, domineering. We forfeited our confidence in God , we believe that in order to have the life that we want, we must take matters into our own hands. Most of our energy is spent trying to hide our true selves and control our worlds to have some sense of security. And because of that, we always feel empty, we are always guarded. But we fail to realize that because of our controlling self, we deprive ourselves of experiencing God's blessings.
So just surrender. We, women, should just lift up our white hankies and surrender everything to Him. If our control genes starts to itch, remember the fall of Eve, best to just trust God.
